Abstract :

This project consists in modelling the musculo-skeletal tissues of the foot as part of the prevention of pressure ulcers in diabetic patients. A hyperelastic finite element model simulates and quantifies internal soft tissue strains. These strains, when they exceed a threshold over a given period of time, may lead to tissue necrosis and then to a pressure ulcer.

This model is also used in the context of computer-assisted foot surgery.
